The Daily Wire has released the full trailer for its upcoming historical drama, ‘Confession,’ directed by Czech filmmaker Václav Marhoul. The film, written by co-founder Ben Shapiro, is set in 1938 Soviet Russia and stars Rob Lowe as Alexei, a disillusioned former literature professor arrested and imprisoned at the infamous Lubyanka Prison. His former student, Vladimir, played by James Franco, serves as his relentless interrogator.
The trailer sets the tone for a gripping psychological narrative that delves into the moral and spiritual dilemmas faced by Alexei as he confronts the brutal realities of Stalin’s regime. The film explores themes of faith, redemption, and the courage required to stand by one’s beliefs in the face of persecution.
Shapiro, who wrote the script, emphasized the importance of remembering historical lessons, particularly those related to the dangers of communism and the materialist worldview. He stated that the film serves as a reminder of the consequences of ideological extremism and the need for moral and spiritual conviction in a world that often forgets these values.
The film features an impressive cast including Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Nick Nolte, Emile Hirsch, Brad Dourif, Dean Norris, and Richard Brake. Marhoul, known for his work on the acclaimed historical drama ‘The Painted Bird,’ brings his expertise to this powerful story of resistance and sacrifice.
As socialism gains renewed attention in American politics, ‘Confession’ offers a stark historical reminder of the dangers of unchecked ideological power. The film will be exclusively available on The Daily Wire on November 11, with a one-night theatrical release in 100 theaters nationwide, accessible only to Daily Wire members.
