Sen. Elissa Slotkin, a Democratic senator from Michigan, revealed plans for prosecuting Trump allies in the event of a Democratic sweep in the midterms during a campaign event for congressional candidate Sean McCann. The exchange was captured on hidden camera footage obtained by Townhall and posted on the outlet’s X account.

During the conversation, an undercover reporter raised concerns about Democrats being ‘too nice’ and asked Slotkin about prosecutions against the Trump administration and its allies. Slotkin responded by outlining a list of ‘signature cases’ she said would be pursued in January if Democrats secured control of Congress.

‘We have a list of, like, the ‘signature cases,’ so the things where it’s, like, so egregious, such a violation of law, such a corruption case… and we will have, in every committee, there will be the ‘signature cases’ where we hold people accountable,’ Slotkin said.

Slotkin specifically named the White House ballroom project in the East Wing, the reflecting pool renovation on the National Mall, and ‘ $200 million in, you know, from the Defense Department’ as examples of the cases she plans to pursue. ‘So that’s what you’ll see basically in January.’

During the same conversation, Slotkin also referenced a recent trip to Budapest. ‘I just went to Hungary. I went over to Budapest because they just got rid of their authoritarian leader after 16 years. And I’m like, how did you handle 16 years of corruption? We don’t have that much, but we have so much.’

The remarks align with public comments Slotkin has made in recent weeks. In a September speech at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, she discussed lessons from Hungary’s political shift away from Viktor Orbán and described Trump as on track to be ‘the most successful corrupt leader in the world’s history,’ citing family wealth gains and projects such as a golden ballroom.

Slotkin, a former CIA officer and first-term senator, has repeatedly framed administration projects and spending as ‘corruption.’ Earlier this year, she joined other Democrat lawmakers in a video reminding service members of their duty to refuse illegal orders. The Trump Justice Department later opened an inquiry into the matter, but it did not result in charges.
