Disney Blocks GOP Ads on Trans Policies, Crime Issues
Republican group claims Disney’s policies are blocking political ads on streaming platforms.

Disney is blocking political ads from the Senate Leadership Fund (SLF), a Republican-aligned group, on multiple streaming platforms, according to documentation reviewed by Breitbart News. The group claims that at least two-thirds of its ads in Ohio, aimed at reaching voters, have been blocked due to Disney’s policy of labeling them as TV-MA, for Mature audiences only. This policy has also affected ads in Alaska and North Carolina, all of which feature competitive races where SLF has invested heavily in advertising.
Disney’s Policy Targets ‘Culture War’ Ads
SLF says that Disney is the second-largest streaming platform for political advertisers behind YouTube, and the policies appear to be targeting ads from Republican-aligned organizations, especially those focused on ‘culture war’ issues such as the transgender agenda and crime policies. The group claims the restriction has led to a loss of millions of impressions and likely prevented political advertising from reaching tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of subscribers.
Ad Spending and Impact
AdImpact, an advertising intelligence company, projected in June that connected television (CTV) spending in the 2026 cycle would surpass $2.5 billion, highlighting the growing importance of streaming platforms in political advertising. SLF’s planned spending in Ohio is aimed at defeating former Democrat Sen. Sherrod Brown, with a minimum budget of $3.6 million through Election Day. However, due to the ad restrictions, the group has lost over $2.6 million in projected spending.
Specific Ad Blocks and Concerns
In North Carolina, a single ad narrated by the father of a murdered college-age woman has been blocked from airing on 75 percent of programs on Hulu. An SLF spokesperson said that if Democrats were spending similar amounts in those states, they would reach three times the number of voters on the second-largest platform in streaming. A person familiar with SLF’s spending also criticized Disney and other woke corporations for preferential treatment toward Democrats.
