Seventeen employees from Disney and Universal Studios have been arrested in a major human trafficking and child sexual abuse sting operation in Florida, according to officials. The arrests were made during a coordinated law enforcement effort targeting predators who sought to meet minors for illicit sexual encounters.
Operation Unveils Disturbing Connections
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd announced the arrests during a press conference, revealing that 31 suspects were apprehended. The sting was designed to catch individuals who would travel to Polk County to meet minors for sex. Judd emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating that the operation was necessary to combat the presence of child predators in the community.
Judd noted that 13 of the suspects were employed by Disney Corporation, while four were affiliated with Universal Studios. Among the arrested was Collin Klaco, a former Disney World employee who once donned the Mickey Mouse suit. During his arrest, officers found him in possession of a backpack containing diapers and baby wipes, indicating his intent to pursue a sexual fetish involving a 13-year-old boy.
Armed Suspects and Illegal Migrants
Officials reported that 24 of the suspects were armed when they arrived at the sting operation. Additionally, 16 of the arrested individuals were undocumented immigrants who were subsequently transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
One of the arrested individuals was Rashion Crayton, 31, the head coach of the Davenport Titans youth football team. Crayton, who coaches children aged 11 to 14, believed he was meeting a 14-year-old girl for sexual activity when he was apprehended.
During the year, Sheriff Judd has arrested 281 suspects in sex-related stings, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat such crimes in the region.
Disney Takes Action
Disney has since confirmed that it has terminated all 13 employees who were identified as company staff in the sting. This incident has reignited discussions about the presence of predators within the entertainment industry, with critics calling for stricter background checks and oversight.
