A coalition of left-wing activists and international attorneys is set to present a dossier to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, demanding arrest warrants against President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and other U.S. officials over their alleged involvement in war crimes and genocide in Gaza.

TAAG Coalition Targets U.S. Officials

The group, operating under the Taxpayer Alliance Against Genocide (TAAG), plans to hand-deliver the dossier to the ICC’s Office of the Prosecutor. The delegation accuses the Trump administration of aiding and abetting atrocities in Gaza, a claim that has drawn sharp criticism from U.S. officials and Jewish organizations.

Francesca Albanese Heads the Effort

Francesca Albanese, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, leads the presentation. Known for her anti-Israel stance, Albanese has been condemned for rhetoric considered antisemitic and for pressuring tech firms like Google. Her actions have sparked backlash, including a response from Google co-founder Sergey Brin.

Trump’s ICC Resistance Continues

The move marks the latest in a diplomatic standoff between the Trump administration and the ICC. The U.S. and Israel are not parties to the Rome Statute, and the White House has consistently rejected the court’s authority. Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently imposed sanctions on the ICC, warning allies to rein in the body or face U.S. retaliation.

Legal and Political Backing for the Move

Support for the effort is bolstered by an executive order signed by Trump in February 2025, authorizing asset freezes and visa bans against ICC personnel. This comes after the ICC issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders and investigated U.S. military actions in Afghanistan.

Political Response and Internal ICC Issues

House Republicans have passed the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act, signaling strong opposition to the ICC. Meanwhile, the ICC’s governing body has launched disciplinary proceedings against its chief prosecutor, Karim Khan, following allegations of sexual misconduct and potential political interference.
