Twenty million new voter registrations occurred in 37 U.S. states that do not require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship, according to a viral post on X. The data, shared by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, has sparked renewed debate over the SAVE America Act, which aims to strengthen citizenship verification for federal voter registration.

The 2024 Election Administration and Voting Survey reported over 103 million voter registration transactions between the 2022 and 2024 general elections, with 26.18 million new valid registrations nationwide. California led with more than 4.3 million, followed by Texas with approximately 2.9 million and North Carolina with 1.4 million.

Republicans have faced growing frustration over the failure to pass the SAVE America Act, with Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) under criticism for not pushing the legislation through. Despite the House passing the bill multiple times, it has stalled in the Senate, where Thune holds significant control over the legislative agenda.

Thune’s reluctance to prioritize the bill has drawn sharp criticism from conservative voters and the MAGA movement. Some argue he has not utilized all available options, such as eliminating the filibuster or pressuring reluctant Republicans to support the legislation.

In the aftermath of the 2026 midterm elections, Dave Rubin raised concerns over the significant difference in voter turnout between the two parties. According to a chart shared by Kevin Bass, Republicans received roughly 54.2 million votes in 2022, projected to rise to 55.6 million in 2026, while Democrats are expected to surge from 51.3 million to 70.4 million, an increase of over 19 million.

X user @kdubkdub54 noted that the increase in Democratic votes closely matches the number of new voter registrations, raising questions about potential fraud. The post also linked to a satirical video highlighting the reality of non-U.S. citizens voting in red states, further fueling the debate on election integrity.

Republicans continue to advocate for election security by requiring proper voter identification, calling it common sense. However, they face accusations from Democrats of spreading misinformation about the impact of such measures.
