President Donald Trump has hinted that his upcoming announcement, set for today in the Oval Office, will center on artificial intelligence, which he refers to as ‘super intelligence.’ The announcement comes as he prepares to meet with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and other top AI executives at the White House on Tuesday, alongside House Speaker Mike Johnson.
Speaking late last night after returning to Washington from Chicago, Trump mentioned that he had dinner plans with Amodei at 10 p.m. He described the meeting as ‘big,’ indicating the significance of the upcoming discussions. ‘We’re meeting with Anthropic, as you know, on Tuesday. That’s going to be big,’ he said.
Trump also emphasized his ability to manage long days of travel and meetings, noting that he had dinner at 10 p.m. as part of his routine. ‘These are long days, but I seem to be able to handle it, right? These are long days. People say, ‘Really?’ I said, ‘I’m having dinner at 10 o’clock tonight.’ So, we travel all over the world, and we have dinner, but that’s all right,’ he added.
Amodei, the CEO of Anthropic, had previously raised concerns about the rapid development of AI, warning that it could pose a ‘threat to humanity’ and calling for greater regulation. Trump has responded to these warnings by criticizing Amodei, accusing him of engaging in a ‘SICK conspiracy’ against AI and data centers.
The White House meeting on Tuesday will bring together top AI executives, including Amodei, as part of a broader effort to address the implications of AI development. Trump’s upcoming announcement is expected to outline his administration’s stance on the technology and its potential impact on national security, the economy, and the future of innovation.
