Tim Tebow, the former NFL quarterback and prominent evangelical Christian, has announced he is pausing his relationship with Life Surge, a faith-driven conference company, following allegations of predatory sales tactics. The decision comes after an investigation by Mother Jones uncovered claims that Life Surge pressured attendees into costly investment programs.

Allegations and Response

Tebow, who serves as a spokesman for Life Surge, stated that he takes the allegations very seriously. He mentioned that his team is conducting its own investigation to better understand the situation. ‘The allegations are extremely serious, and we take them very seriously,’ Tebow said.

Tebow expressed being ‘caught off guard’ by the claims against Life Surge, noting that he was at a conference against human trafficking when he learned about the investigation. He emphasized the importance of getting to the bottom of the allegations to ensure transparency and integrity.

Investigation Details

Mother Jones reported that Life Surge used well-known Christian speakers to attract attendees, only to aggressively market their finance and investment courses. Attendees could enter the events for as little as $20, but were urged to take part in ‘SurgeU,’ where courses could cost between $10,000 and $40,000. Third-party lenders were made available for those unable to afford the courses.

The ‘SurgeU’ courses promised to ‘surge your resources and influence through real estate and trade — for Kingdom impact.’ This approach has raised concerns about the ethical practices of the organization.

Tebow’s Background and Other Activities

Since his days in the NFL, Tebow has been involved in activism against human trafficking and the Night to Shine program, which hosts prom nights for people with special needs. He now works as a college football analyst and sports broadcaster.
