She emphasized that her family remained united, and that Erika was always fully supported. “We were 100 percent behind Erika,” Kirk said. “Through the tragedy, the two of them have grown closer together.”
Kirk also shared her emotional struggle, noting that the only time she has cried since the incident is when discussing how upset her son would be about the way Erika has been treated on social media. Kirk acknowledged the difficulty of maintaining privacy in the public eye but also expressed her frustration with conspiracy theories that suggest her and her husband were involved in the planning of Charlie’s will or the future of TPUSA. She clarified that Charlie had made it clear that his parents would not be involved in leadership decisions, as it would only feed into their fears. Instead, he had entrusted Erika with leading the organization he co-founded in 2012.
Members of the TPUSA board confirmed that Charlie had made his wishes very clear, ensuring that Erika would take the helm in the event of his passing. Kirk, who has largely stayed out of the public eye, has been present in courtrooms alongside Erika during preliminary hearings for Tyler Robinson, the man charged with killing Charlie.
