Federal agents have arrested a Massachusetts man for cyberstalking former Trump advisor Stephen Miller and his wife, Katie Miller. According to the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, 41-year-old John Anthony Proia III allegedly harassed the Millers through repeated phone and text communications over a two-month period.
Harassment and Threats
Proia is accused of contacting the Millers using multiple phone numbers and sending them disturbing messages. The alleged harassment extended to Katie Miller’s parents, with Proia sending vulgar texts that included offensive remarks about the victim and her husband. The messages reportedly contained derogatory language and targeted the victim’s family, including her parents.
Court Documents Detail the Allegations
Court filings reveal that between August and September 2026, Proia allegedly used Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) applications to make calls and send texts from unfamiliar numbers. These applications allowed him to obscure his identity and generate new numbers, making it difficult to trace his communications. The victim, a former political advisor and prominent Republican, received multiple calls and texts daily, including late-night calls and voicemails from a male caller using a menacing tone and expletives.
Charges and Arrest
Proia was indicted by a federal grand jury in Boston and arrested this afternoon. He is scheduled to appear in federal district court in Boston at 5:00 PM today. The indictment includes one count of cyberstalking, highlighting the severity of the alleged actions. The case underscores the growing issue of online harassment and the challenges of tracking individuals who use technology to evade detection.
