The U.S. Coast Guard is conducting a search off the coast of Nantucket for a medical transport jet that vanished after air traffic controllers lost contact with the aircraft early Saturday. The plane, a Gulfstream G100 with the tail number C-GRJP, was en route from Bermuda to Boston when communication was lost, according to the Coast Guard’s Northeast District.
FlightAware data indicates the jet departed Bermuda International Airport at 11:41 p.m. Eastern on Friday. The Federal Aviation Administration alerted the Coast Guard around 2 a.m. that it could no longer reach the aircraft. “Air & surface crews have launched in search of the aircraft. Updates will be provided here as info becomes available,” the district posted on X.

The search effort includes an HC-144 Ocean Sentry patrol plane and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Cape Cod, as well as a 47-foot motor lifeboat from Station Brant Point on Nantucket. The “C-” prefix on the tail number marks the jet as Canadian-registered, and the aircraft belongs to Latitude Air Ambulance, according to NBC10 Boston.
Latitude Air Ambulance, based at Hamilton International Airport in Ontario, specializes in long-distance medical evacuations and patient repatriations. A listing with EURAMI, a European air ambulance accreditation body, describes the company’s fleet as consisting of five aircraft, three of which are Astra SPX or G100 jets equipped for intensive care. The G100 is a twin-engine business jet originally developed in Israel.
Authorities have not yet released the names of those aboard the missing jet or confirmed whether a patient was among them. No wreckage has been publicly reported as of Saturday morning. This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.
