Zach Bryan turned a sold-out stadium show into a statement against billionaire Robert Kraft by wearing a ‘Free Palestine’ shirt during his concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The country star performed on October 2 as part of his ‘With Heaven On Tour’ concert series, according to Page Six. The black T-shirt featured the phrase ‘An Appeal to Heaven’ above an image of a pine tree, referencing a historical American Revolutionary War flag associated with George Washington’s campaign.

Several of Bryan’s band members also dressed in Palestine-themed clothing, with guitarist Noah Le Gros wearing a green Palestine soccer jersey. He posed in front of Kraft Sports and Entertainment signage after the performance. Bryan, 30, did not comment on the shirt from the stage, according to Billboard.

The next morning, Bryan responded to the controversy in a post quoted by The Hollywood Reporter. He wrote, “I didn’t put on a FREE PALESTINE shirt to please everybody. I wore it because some things are bigger than music, fame, and public approval. You’re free to disagree with me, but I’m not going to pretend I don’t care just to keep everyone comfortable.”

Kraft, owner of the Gillette Stadium and the New England Patriots, had previously led a group of venue owners to pressure Ed Sheeran to remove rapper Macklemore from his tour over pro-Palestinian statements. A representative for Kraft did not respond to a request for comment on Bryan’s shirt, according to The Wrap, and Kraft himself remained silent.

Macklemore, who wore a keffiyeh and called for a free Palestine during Sheeran’s MetLife Stadium dates in September, continued his pro-Palestine messaging after being asked to stop by a promoter. He has since launched his own sold-out Free Palestine tour across Europe, according to Page Six.

Bryan has faced political backlash before. The Hill reported that a 2025 song snippet critical of immigration raids led to a rebuke from then-Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who called it “completely disrespectful.” Bryan is set to return to Gillette Stadium for a second night on October 3, leaving open the possibility of the shirt reappearing and whether Kraft will respond.
