More than a third of the men arrested in a Hamilton County, Indiana, child-sex sting are illegal aliens, according to the Department of Homeland Security. The agency confirmed that 4 out of 11 suspects—36 percent—are in the country illegally, with some originating from four different countries. One of the suspects, a Senegalese national, was caught and released at the border by the Biden administration in 2023.

According to Fox News, DHS informed the network that the men were arrested in a three-day undercover operation conducted by the Hamilton County Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The operation, which ran from September 22–24, involved undercover detectives posing as minors to catch predators. The men believed they were chatting online with young girls and then planned to meet them in person for sexual activity.

All 11 suspects were charged with child solicitation, a Level 4 felony. Several face additional charges. ICE has lodged detainers on the four illegal aliens, and a DHS spokesperson told Fox News that the department is urging Indiana to honor those detainers. The spokesperson emphasized that all claims will be heard by an immigration judge, and the individuals will receive due process.

The other seven suspects were not identified by DHS as illegal aliens. Indiana is not a sanctuary state, and DHS is still pressing local authorities to transfer the four illegal aliens to ICE after their criminal cases, rather than releasing them back into the community.

As the case unfolds, it highlights the ongoing debate over immigration enforcement and the prioritization of public safety. The arrest of illegal aliens in such a serious crime underscores the complexities of border policy and its impact on law enforcement efforts.
