Israeli mother urges daughters to pray as hijacked Flydubai flight descends in chaos.

An Israeli mother, Lital Hirschl-Shahar, 39, and her four daughters were on a Flydubai flight from Singapore to Tel Aviv when the plane was hijacked. As the situation escalated, Hirschl-Shahar gave her daughters one clear instruction: ‘pray.’ The incident unfolded when the copilot attempted to attack the pilot, prompting a series of dramatic events that led to the plane’s safe landing.
Chaos and Courage on Board
According to Hirschl-Shahar, the plane was descending rapidly after the copilot attacked the pilot. The mother described the moment as terrifying, with passengers hearing a business-class passenger scream in fear. ‘It all happened so fast, and the plane just started dropping down,’ she said. In the midst of the chaos, Hirschl-Shahar turned to prayer, believing it was the only way to save her family.
Passengers Take Action
Despite the copilot’s injuries, he managed to open the cockpit door, allowing Israeli passengers to intervene. Plumber Yaniv Hayoun, who had previously watched ‘Air Crash Investigations,’ took charge of the situation. He subdued the copilot and pulled the plane out of its downward trajectory. Another man entered the cockpit, claiming to be a pilot, and took over the controls.
Safe Landing and Relief
Hayoun stayed in the cockpit to ensure the replacement pilot was reliable, as there was uncertainty about whether others were involved in the alleged plan to crash the plane in a 9/11-style attack. He was relieved to hear the pilot communicate with ground control, requesting medical assistance upon landing. The plane initially landed in Saudi Arabia before being transferred to another aircraft for the final leg of the journey to Tel Aviv.
A Miracle in the Sky
Once safely home, Hirschl-Shahar described the ordeal as a series of miracles. ‘It was just a miracle wrapped in a miracle wrapped in a miracle,’ she said, reflecting on the harrowing experience and the eventual safe return of her family.
