Former Miss Universe Jamaica Gabrielle Henry has shared rare updates about her recovery journey following a traumatic brain injury sustained in a fall from the Miss Universe stage. In a recent post on her social media, Henry revealed never-before-seen images of the scars from the accident, which occurred exactly 10 months prior.

A Difficult Recovery

Henry described her healing process as a challenging and transformative experience. She shared that her daily routine has changed significantly since the incident, emphasizing the importance of rest and self-care. “It is difficult to describe what going through this injury has been like. It almost feels as though I’ve had an out-of-body experience and returned to a body that isn’t my own,” she wrote.

Henry also highlighted the emotional and physical toll of her recovery, stating, “Recovery has been a difficult journey, filled with ups and downs, and lots of disappointment.” Despite the challenges, she remains committed to her healing and expressed hope for a stronger future.

Legal Action Against Miss Universe Organization

Henry filed a lawsuit against the Miss Universe organization, alleging negligence and unsafe conditions led to her fall. She described the incident as a result of an “unmarked and uncovered opening in the stage” that contained lighting equipment and concrete. She claimed that intense lighting impaired her visibility, leading to the fall.

“Instead of rigorous physical preparation for pageant events, my new daily workout became breathing in as forcefully as I could with an incentive spirometer,” Henry said in a previous statement. This device was used to help her lungs regain their capacity after the injury.

Seeking Strength and Joy

Despite the difficulties, Henry remains optimistic. She emphasized the importance of finding joy in challenging moments and continues to focus on her health through carefully curated nutrition and therapy sessions. “Some scars may never heal, but I will continue to shine and seek joy in the challenging moments,” she wrote.
