Disney has faced widespread backlash after raising admission prices for its parks, with some fans vowing to never return. The price increases, which went into effect on Tuesday, have sparked outrage online and among families who feel the cost is now unaffordable.

The most expensive ticket for Disney World, the Incredi-Pass, saw a $120 increase, bringing the price close to $500. The top-tier annual pass also rose by $120, reaching about $1,800. However, the cheapest ticket for Animal Kingdom remained unchanged at around $120.

Disney’s Response to Rising Costs

Disney executives, including Thomas Mazloum, chairman of Disney Experiences, have defended the price hikes, emphasizing their sensitivity to families’ budgets amid inflation. Mazloum told CNN, “Our goal is to put guests at the center of our decision making, and that starts by listening to them.” He added that families are making more careful choices now, and Disney is adapting to these changes.

Fans React with Anger and Frustration

Many Disney fans took to social media to express their disappointment and frustration. One user asked, “How in the world does a family afford to attend???” Another commented, “American families can never go on vacation let alone ever see Disney. They are too busy working two 3 jobs paying for subsidies.”

Others criticized the price hikes as unreasonable, with one user declaring, “I’m just waiting for Disney to go out of business.” Another user added, “Who the fuck is paying that much to get into Disney? It ain’t even worth that much. Are you fucking kidding me.”

Some fans also pointed out the lack of value in the experience, with one user stating, “I take my child to historical sights. I’d rather her learn about history. She’s been to Disney World and wasn’t impressed.”

Walt Disney’s Vision vs. Current Reality

Several users referenced Walt Disney’s original vision for his parks, emphasizing the importance of making them accessible to all. One user wrote, “Walt is rolling in his grave. He wanted his parks to be available to everyone, especially the children, because they are our future, and need hope and magic in their lives.”

Others criticized the changes as making Disney a privilege for the wealthy, with one user stating, “Only the elites will be allowed into pedo world.” Another user suggested, “Sea world is a better choice!”

Some Fans Defend Disney’s Pricing Strategy

Not all fans were against the price increases. One user argued, “You can’t get mad at Disney for raising prices. If people are willing to spend it, why wouldn’t they raise it?” They added, “If people stop going, they will have to lower the price.”

Despite the criticism, Disney continues to see its parks as a major part of its business, with the price hikes reflecting the company’s ongoing efforts to balance revenue and customer experience.
