President Donald Trump is set to make an appearance in San Antonio, Texas, on Wednesday, where he will be introduced by baseball icon Roger Clemens during a midterm election rally. The event marks another chapter in Trump’s ongoing engagement with sports figures and events, a trend that has become a staple of his public appearances.

A Legacy in Baseball

Roger Clemens, one of the greatest pitchers in Major League Baseball history, has been a vocal supporter of Trump since 2019. The Rocket, as he is famously known, played for the University of Texas before launching a legendary professional career. Over three decades, Clemens earned seven Cy Young Awards and was instrumental in the Boston Red Sox’s 1986 American League MVP season. He also contributed to the New York Yankees’ back-to-back World Series championships in 1999 and 2000.

Trump’s affinity for sports has continued with recent events, including his attendance at the Baltimore Ravens’ shipyard announcement. During the event, Trump was joined by Ravens players Ryan Eckley, Nick Moore, Tyler Loop, and Marlon Humphrey.

The president also rode in a vehicle with the players, as captured in a social media post from Marlon Humphrey.

Earlier this month, Trump attended the Texas-Tennessee game, where he was interviewed at halftime by Sport & State founder Clay Travis. Additionally, former NBA players Enes Kanter Freedom and Dennis Rodman attended one of Trump’s Oklahoma rallies, where they were granted eligibility to play in the WNBA.

Trump is expected to continue his sports-centric campaign this weekend, with plans to attend the Georgia-Alabama college football matchup in Tuscaloosa.
