Wisconsin Woman Faked Teacher Role to Abuse Students

A 23-year-old woman in Wisconsin faked being a teacher to abuse students, using racial slurs and segregation. Amy Jones, 23, posed as a substitute teacher at Rufus King High School in Milwaukee on September 24, after eight other teachers called in sick. Staff allowed her to substitute teach for the day, and she allegedly abused white students by calling them names and segregating them by race.

Jones admitted to having the ‘birds and the bees’ talk with the students in the classroom. According to students, she screamed at them and used profane language and racial slurs. She told white students that they looked like the type to start school shootings, and called young girls hookers. Jones was arrested and charged with six felony counts, facing up to 20 years in prison.

Students reported to a school resource officer that Jones was using profane language, racial slurs, sexually derogative statements, and organizing students by race and gender in class. A 16-year-old boy told police that the teacher was cursing and screaming at the students, calling a student ‘fat boy,’ asking a student if she wanted to be a stripper or a hooker, and telling two white boys in the class they were the type of people to start school shootings.

Students also told police that Jones asked them if they were gay or virgins. At least one student recorded her behavior and shared the video with police. The school principal told police that eight teachers had called in sick that day, and only seven of those positions were filled. She said she believed Jones ‘got lucky because there happened to be an unfilled position.’ The principal became aware of the situation during the third period and had Jones escorted from the building.
