On Saturday, the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh was targeted in a Houthi attack, resulting in the deaths of 13 people, including an American citizen, and leaving over 300 injured. The Saudi Arabian General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed the casualties, with 12 deaths reported initially, later updated to include an Indian national who succumbed to injuries, raising the death toll to 13.

International Condemnation and U.S. Response

United States officials condemned the attack, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio issuing a statement calling the Houthi actions a clear act of terrorism. The Regional Four (R4) Group, comprising Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, and Turkey, also expressed strong disapproval of the attacks, emphasizing the civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure.

President Donald Trump indicated that the U.S. might assist Saudi Arabia militarily, though no definitive decision was made. “We may. We’re going to look at it,” he said, adding that the U.S. would make a decision quickly. He later remarked, “You’re going to find out,” hinting at potential military involvement.

Follow-Up Attacks and Ongoing Threats

On Sunday, the airport was attacked again, alongside the King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. These repeated strikes underscore the ongoing threat posed by the Houthis and the need for a coordinated international response.

The incident has reignited discussions about regional security and the role of the U.S. in countering terrorist activities. As investigations continue, the international community remains closely monitored for any further developments.
