Elon Musk is pouring billions into the Republican Party’s midterm campaign, with over $366 million in donations this election cycle, far surpassing his 2024 contributions. According to The New York Times, Musk has spent more than $276 million since July to support Republican candidates, significantly boosting the party’s chances of maintaining its congressional majority.

Political analysts note that the party of the sitting president typically faces an uphill battle in midterms. Given the razor-thin margins the Republicans hold in both the House and Senate, a shift of just a few seats could change the balance of power. Musk’s donations are seen as a critical factor in this race, with his financial support targeting key Senate and House races across the country.

Musk has donated $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund this summer, which aims to elect Republicans to the Senate. Additionally, he has contributed over $76 million to America PAC, the organization he founded in 2024, which is focused on voter turnout in battleground states and over 30 House races. Musk has also given $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund and $10 million to the Lone Star Liberty PAC, supporting Ken Paxton’s Senate bid in Texas.

His donations extend to state-level races, with $10 million going to the Republican Governors Association and $2 million to the Republican Attorneys General Association. The New York Times reports that Musk’s contributions far exceed any single Democratic donor, with some unreported donations also included in his total.

Despite his reduced public profile compared to the 2024 campaign, Musk remains a key player in the GOP’s strategy. His contributions have fueled a voter canvassing push in Texas, with literature warning that ‘Radical Democrat socialists are winning elections all across America.’ The effort is being hailed as a significant boost for Republicans in their fight against historical trends.

James Blair, President Trump’s senior political adviser, called Musk’s return to the political scene a ‘huge boost for Republicans across the country,’ emphasizing the GOP’s ability to ‘outsmart our opponents and ruthlessly execute our mission for the GOP between now and Election Day.’
