President Donald Trump suggested Friday that White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia may need to reconsider her role, citing the intense media scrutiny she has faced since taking the position. During a press briefing, Trump appeared to hint that Zacharia’s tenure as press secretary might be short-lived, following a challenging first briefing and ongoing media criticism of her legal background.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said he had advised Zacharia that she had been treated “very, very unfairly” by the news media. He added that he had asked her, “Do you need this?” and suggested that she might want to think about her future in the administration.

“I said to her, honestly, if I were you, I’d reconsider,” Trump said. He claimed that Zacharia has been “brutalized” by the legacy media and that he wants her to “have a good life.”

Zacharia was appointed as press secretary exactly one week ago. She previously served as a senior communications official at the Department of Homeland Security and as a spokeswoman for former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. She left the agency about six weeks after joining amid leadership changes at DHS.

Trump hinted that a decision about Zacharia’s future might be made soon, alluding to an imminent announcement after his Friday campaign rally in Georgia. “Maybe it’s not for her,” he said, without providing further details.

Zacharia’s appointment has drawn attention due to her background and the scrutiny she has faced since taking the role. The White House has not yet made an official statement on whether she will remain in the position. As the situation develops, further updates are expected.
