President Donald Trump warned Monday that Paris is on course to become a “Muslim city very soon,” blaming France’s escalating unrest on mass immigration and urging French President Emmanuel Macron to close the country’s borders. Trump’s comments came as France grappled with days of violent riots, looting, and arson across the nation.

Trump Blames Immigration for French Unrest

“Paris is going to be a Muslim city very soon, and that wasn’t the deal,” Trump said during a White House press briefing. He accused Macron of making a “big mistake” by allowing mass immigration, contrasting his own approach of closing borders with France’s open policy.

“We closed our borders. He didn’t. And you know what? His borders are a problem,” Trump added. He said he had warned Macron years ago about the consequences of his immigration policies, calling on the French leader to act before it was too late.

France Faces Widespread Violence Amid Riots

The unrest in France, which began as demonstrations over education funding and living costs, escalated into riots that left buildings burned, businesses looted, and hundreds of police officers injured. Over 2,330 people were taken into police custody over the weekend, according to French Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin.

Among the buildings targeted was the historic town hall in Limoges, which suffered extensive damage in an arson attack. French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the violence, blaming “insurrectionist elements from radical far-left groups, joined by numerous criminals,” while distinguishing the rioters from demonstrators with legitimate grievances.

Trump Warns of European Stability Crisis

Trump warned that the consequences of unchecked immigration could extend across Europe, saying, “If Europe doesn’t close its borders and bring the criminals out, like the people that are protesting, Europe is finished.” He echoed similar sentiments on Truth Social, declaring, “The migrants have taken over France. They must close the borders, fast.”

Vice President JD Vance also weighed in, criticizing Western leaders for importing migrants “in the name of diversity and compassion” while ignoring assimilation concerns. He warned that the situation in France could be the “future congressional Democrats seek for your country.”

As France continues to face widespread violence and instability, Trump’s comments highlight the growing tensions over immigration and national security in Europe.
