Ukraine has fully restored its access to Starlink and Starshield satellite services, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The speeds have returned to pre-restriction levels, significantly improving front-line operations and defense against Russian Shahed drones, Zelenskyy stated on X.

Restoration Follows Diplomatic Push

The restoration of the satellite internet services came after a renewed U.S. diplomatic effort to end the war. Russia agreed to resume three-way negotiations with Washington and Kyiv next month. Additionally, Kyiv and Moscow reached a localized ceasefire in the war-torn town of Oleshky, brokered by First Lady Melania Trump.

Impact of Service Restrictions

Previous restrictions on Starshield, SpaceX’s military-grade satellite internet, had disrupted Ukraine’s drone operations and communications. The service interruption caused alarm among military and government officials, with reports of lost drones and disrupted missions. The incident also heightened tensions between Kyiv and Washington, particularly due to President Donald Trump’s reported deal on Russian diesel imports, which Ukraine viewed as a betrayal.

Clarifications on Who Ordered Restrictions

Questions remain about who ordered the service interruptions. President Trump has denied any involvement, while Vice President JD Vance hinted at White House coordination with Elon Musk. Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth denied any administration role in the decision.

Other Military Developments

Ukrainian forces continued their attacks, hitting a chemical plant in Tolyatti, Russia, which produces rocket fuel materials. In the Kharkiv region, a missile attack killed one person and injured two others. Additionally, Ukrainian drones reached the Omsk region in western Siberia, over 2,000 kilometers from the border. The attack on an Ozon logistics center in Omsk caused no casualties.
