House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has dismissed recent polling data that suggests Democrats hold an advantage over Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections. During an appearance on Fox News Channel’s ‘The Ingraham Angle,’ Johnson argued that the polls fail to capture the growing enthusiasm among Republican voters across the country.

Underestimating GOP Support

Johnson emphasized that the current polling data is inaccurate, stating that it does not reflect the level of support for the Republican Party. ‘The polls are grossly underestimating Republican enthusiasm around the country,’ he said. Johnson claimed that the American public understands this is a ‘contrast election’ and that voters are looking for a shift away from what he described as the ‘crazy’ policies of the Democratic Party.

Warnings Against Democratic Control

Johnson also warned that if Democrats were to gain control of Congress, it could lead to an even more extreme shift to the left, comparing the current Democratic leadership to the Obama and Biden-Harris administrations. ‘I’m afraid if these Democrats took control of Congress, it would be crazier even than the Obama years and the Biden-Harris years,’ he said, adding that the party has ‘taken a far lurch to the left.’

Peaceful Transition Assurances

During the interview, host Laura Ingraham raised concerns about potential unrest ahead of the election, suggesting that some Republicans might resort to extreme actions. Johnson responded by assuring the audience that the election would be peaceful. ‘Of course it will be peaceful,’ he said, dismissing the idea that any violence would occur.

Traveling the Country

Johnson also highlighted his efforts to campaign across the nation, stating that he has been traveling nonstop and has visited ‘thirty-nine districts last week’ and ‘scores of states.’ He claimed that his presence on the campaign trail is a testament to the strong support for the Republican Party.

Political Climate Ahead of Midterms

With the midterm elections just weeks away, Johnson’s comments reflect the growing confidence among some Republicans that they are poised to make gains. His assertions align with recent reports suggesting that the Republican Party is closing the enthusiasm gap with Democrats, indicating a potential shift in the political landscape.
