Republican National Senatorial Committee (NRSC) Chairman Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) has urged Republican voters to show up at the polls in the upcoming midterm elections, asserting that the party can maintain its Senate majority if its base turns out in sufficient numbers. Speaking on Breitbart News Saturday, Scott emphasized that the key to holding the Senate lies not in an unusual outcome, but in the participation of Republican voters.

Turnout Is the Key

Scott told Breitbart News host Matthew Boyle that the most important factor in keeping the Senate majority is for Republican voters to trust President Donald Trump’s claim that his presence on the ballot leads to increased voter turnout. He said that if Republican voters do what they have done in previous elections with Trump on the ballot, the party will succeed.

“We don’t need a miracle. We’re not looking for the Hail Mary,” Scott said. “We just need Republican voters to do what we do when President Trump is on the ballot. He says there’s a 49.2% increase in vote turnout. If we do our part, we win.”

Targeting Key States

Scott outlined Michigan, New Hampshire, and Minnesota as states where Republicans could potentially take seats from Democrats, citing them as key races on his toss-up map. He also highlighted Ohio as a state where pollsters are struggling to reach voters, suggesting that the polls may be inaccurate due to the lack of responses from some voters.

“So how do you actually poll people who don’t respond to pollsters? The answer is simple. You don’t. And therefore, I think the polls are off. I think President Trump is right. And we are going to make sure that because America is on the ballot, patriots all across this country, including in Ohio, must come out and vote,” Scott said.

Encouraging Community Voting

Scott urged Republicans to vote as a team, encouraging them to bring friends, neighbors, and even “ugly relatives” to the polls. He said that if this happens, the party will secure the Senate majority.

“Your neighbors, your friends, your ugly relatives should go with you to vote. And if that happens, and I know that it will because we love the America we have, when that happens, we will wake up Wednesday morning and, hallelujah, and thank you Jesus, because we will be in the majority,” Scott added.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton also warned on Saturday that Republicans cannot treat his state as a sure win, calling his Senate race the toughest of his political career. With the Senate currently split 53-47 in favor of Republicans, Democrats need to win four seats and hold all their current ones to take control of the chamber.
