Trump Launches Midterm Campaign in Key Red States
President Trump begins his midterm campaign in Oklahoma and Alabama, targeting GOP strongholds.

President Donald Trump has launched his midterm campaign by focusing on key red states, aiming to boost Republican turnout in traditionally safe areas. As the November elections approach, Trump is set to hold rallies in Durant, Oklahoma, and Mobile, Alabama, both of which have historically supported his candidacy.
Focus on Red-State Strongholds
The Oklahoma rally, scheduled for October 1, will take place at the Choctaw Event Center and is hosted by the Trump 47 Committee, a joint fundraising operation between Trump and the Republican Party. Trump has endorsed Republican gubernatorial nominee Mike Mazzei, who faces Democratic state House Minority Leader Cyndi Munson.
The Mobile rally is strategically placed near Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District, where Republican state Rep. Rhett Marques is challenging Democratic Rep. Shomari Figures. The district was recently redrawn under a GOP-drawn map, which the Supreme Court allowed the state to reinstate this year.
Broader Campaign Plan
According to Politico, Trump is also expected to campaign in Iowa, Florida, Texas, and Alaska before Election Day. He has expressed support for Republican Senate candidates Ken Paxton in Texas and Dan Sullivan in Alaska, while Iowa and Florida have become additional areas of Republican concern.
Trump has pledged to campaign for 35 of the most competitive House and Senate races before November. While the White House and RNC have not released a full schedule, more traditional battleground states are expected to see rallies starting October 3, following his tour of friendly states.
Strategic Move for Turnout
Republicans argue that Trump’s presence in Oklahoma and Alabama is intended to generate voter turnout rather than simply reinforce states that are already safely Republican. A Republican official described the locations as “very strategic,” noting that Durant is near the Texas border and reaches the Dallas-Fort Worth media market, while Mobile’s proximity to the Florida Panhandle offers broader reach.
“The President’s ability to engage with and activate low-propensity voters is unmatched,” said RNC spokeswoman Natalie Baldassarre, according to the Associated Press. “That’s why he’ll be barnstorming the country to activate the voters we need to win in November.”
With Election Day just over five weeks away, Trump’s campaign calendar is filling rapidly, raising questions about how quickly the red-state stops will give way to the battlegrounds that will ultimately determine control of Congress.
