Kid Rock, known for his rock anthems and bold personality, is making a surprising move with his new Christian album. The project, titled Halfway 2 Jesus, features an unlikely collaboration with fellow Detroit rapper Eminem. The partnership, which Kid Rock revealed during an interview on My View with Lara Trump, highlights his belief in bridging political divides through music.
Politics and Music: A Unlikely Alliance
“We said years ago, we said, ‘Man, let’s not let politics divide us,'” Kid Rock explained. “And we never did. And so when I asked him to be part of this… he totally got it.” Despite their differing political views—Kid Rock being a vocal conservative and Eminem known for his liberal leanings—the two have maintained a friendship rooted in mutual respect.
“Two little foul-mouthed white rappers from Detroit maybe could set a good example for the rest of this country,” Kid Rock added. He described Eminem as a “class act” and emphasized that their friendship is built on shared values rather than political alignment.
Album Details and Inspiration
The album, set for release on October 17, includes other notable contributors such as Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts and Jimmie Allen. It also features a cover of Lee Greenwood’s God Bless the U.S.A. Kid Rock explained that the album was inspired by his growing faith following the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
“After Charlie Kirk was assassinated, like a lot of people, I started to become closer to my faith,” he said. However, he clarified that this was not a religious conversion. “I didn’t get saved. I’m still Kid Rock. I’m still going to drink a beer and smoke a cigar,” he joked.
“This record is about second chances and forgiveness. It’s about trying to heal some of the division in our country,” Kid Rock emphasized. He aims to create music that he would enjoy at church and envision revivals in arenas where people can celebrate faith while enjoying life’s simple pleasures.
Message of Unity
Kid Rock hopes the album can make a positive impact. “I think that could do a lot of good in the world,” he concluded. With a blend of rock, country, and Christian themes, Halfway 2 Jesus promises to be a unique and thought-provoking project.
