The story follows Alexei, a disillusioned former literature professor, who is arrested in 1938 Moscow and brought to the infamous Lubyanka Prison, where he faces interrogation by his former student, Vladimir. Director’s Vision
Marhoul, known for his work on ‘The Painted Bird,’ described the film as a significant challenge, as it required a shift into a dialogue-driven psychological drama set in a single location. He collaborated with cinematographer Peter Menzies to create a visual style that complements the story and characters, supported by a dedicated crew and cast.
Production and Release
‘Confession’ will debut at the Warsaw Film Festival and will then open in 100 theaters nationwide on November 11, the same day it premieres on The Daily Wire.
