President Donald Trump has publicly defended White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, dismissing recent reports that her position was at risk. In a statement released by the White House, Trump called Politico’s coverage of the situation ‘fake news,’ emphasizing his confidence in Wiles’ loyalty and service to the administration.
Trump Calls Out Politico for ‘Fake News’
Trump accused Politico of lacking integrity and honest journalism, stating that the outlet’s coverage of Wiles’ potential removal was entirely fabricated. He claimed that the report was part of a broader pattern of ‘fake news’ that led to the outlet being banned from the White House last month.
“The only one that matters is me, because I’m the one that makes the decision,” Trump said. “So, they made up fake news. They released it knowing it was a fake story.”
Wiles’ Role and Recovery from Cancer
Wiles, who has been serving as Chief of Staff since the beginning of Trump’s second term, has been a key figure in the administration. She became the first female to hold the position, a milestone Trump highlighted during his comments.
“She has been incredible. We’ve had maybe the most successful first two years — and it’s not even two years — in the history of the presidency,” he said. Trump also praised Wiles’ resilience, noting that she had recently recovered from breast cancer surgery.
“She’s smart, she’s tough, she just went through a lot with the cancer surgery … and she recovered — fully recovered. She’s phenomenal,” he added.
Trump’s Response to Press Questions
When pressed on the issue earlier in the week, Trump reiterated his stance, calling the story a ‘fake story.’ He emphasized that Wiles’ position was secure and that she would remain in her role for the foreseeable future.
“Susie is here, and she’s going to be here for a long time,” he concluded.
