The US Secret Service has announced the appointment of Mark Ryan as its new Deputy Director, following the resignation of Matt Quinn. Director Sean Curran made the announcement on Tuesday, stating that Ryan, a 25-year veteran agent, will take over the role.

“I am pleased to announce that I have asked Mark Ryan to serve as the 25th Deputy Director of the US Secret Service,” Curran said in a statement. “I am confident that this transition will sustain the momentum we have built and strengthen our ability to meet the mission ahead,” he added.

According to Real Clear Politics, Ryan spent six years in the Presidential Protective Division. His extensive experience within the agency is expected to aid in the ongoing operations and security protocols.

Quinn, who served as a Secret Service Agent for 23 years, resigned on Friday, citing the need to transition out of his role. “Today I informed the men and women of the Secret Service that I will be transitioning out of my role as Deputy Director. Director Curran and I have been working on a thoughtful transition plan for months now. Proud of the men & women of the USSS and all your accomplishments!” Quinn stated in a message on X.

Quinn’s tenure at the Secret Service was marked by his return to the agency after a stint with DroneHunter, a company he previously worked for. According to Real Clear Politics, Quinn’s association with DroneHunter has drawn attention due to its involvement in drone-related technologies.
