A violent home invasion in an affluent Toronto neighborhood left a CEO and his family injured, sparking fear and concern among residents. On Thursday, three masked, armed suspects stormed the home of Mac Group CEO David Morton and his family on Hyde Park Circle at 3:43 a.m., according to The Toronto Sun.
Family Members Shot and Brutally Attacked
The suspects shot Morton and his two adult daughters, Cristina and Maggie, before brutally attacking his wife, Doriana, with a hammer. Toronto Police Service Inspector Kristy Smith reported that Morton and one daughter were shot in the leg, while the other daughter was shot under her arm. Two family members suffered life-altering injuries and remained hospitalized, while the other two sustained non-life-threatening wounds.
Attack Near Pop Star’s Estate
The 2.1 million-dollar home, located approximately 500 yards from Drake’s estate, is part of the exclusive Bridle Path neighborhood. Morton and his daughters reportedly fought off the attackers who gained entry through a back door. The suspects fired multiple times during the struggle, and one victim was struck with a hammer, according to Smith.
Community Reeling from the Attack
Authorities have not yet released details about the suspects, but they fled the scene in an SUV. The Mac Group’s website lists Cristina as the founder of Zohil-Morton Law, Maggie as a valued employee, and Doriana as the president. Local news outlets have covered the brutal attack, leaving the community reeling.
Police Seek Information on Motives
Smith stated that there is no indication the home was specifically targeted, and the suspects’ motives remain unclear. She emphasized that people should feel safe in their homes and assured residents that the Toronto Police Service would do everything possible to identify and bring the suspects to justice.
