Speaking to the crowd, Trump reiterated his belief that the Democratic Party has consistently targeted him. He accused them of smear campaigns, impeachment attempts, and even threats to his life, emphasizing that he has always prevailed with the support of his base.
“With you at my side, we have always prevailed, and prevailed by a lot, and got record-setting votes,” Trump said. He went on to assert that the Republican Party has defeated every challenge, including what he called “hoaxes” and “threats.”
Trump also vowed to continue his efforts to combat what he described as the threat posed by “communist, socialist, radicalized lunatics and villains.” He promised that the party would ultimately “put them down” once and for all.
TRUMP: ‘THEY EVEN TRIED TO KILL ME’ @POTUS recounts the investigations, impeachments, arrests and assassination attempts he has faced—then delivers a defiant message to the Ohio crowd:
During the rally, Trump recited “The Snake,” a piece of rhetoric he frequently uses at public events. He used the metaphor to describe the impact of open-border policies under the Biden administration, claiming that 25 million people were released from jails, mental institutions, and prisons and allowed to enter the United States.
“That’s what happened at our border. 25 million people came in from jails, from mental institutions, from prisons all over the world they released them in. That’s the snake. They released them into our country,” Trump said, framing the issue as a direct consequence of lax immigration control.
