On Tuesday’s episode of MS NOW’s “The Beat,” Maryland Governor Wes Moore (D-MD) criticized President Donald Trump, calling him ‘making us poor, and he’s doing it gleefully.’ Moore emphasized that Trump’s policies have contributed to a growing wealth gap, with the former president amassing significant personal wealth while the nation faces economic challenges.

Moore Condemns Trump’s Economic Policies

Moore stated, ‘I mean, no one in this country needs a tutorial about how bad Donald Trump is. You know what I mean? I mean, we’ve seen that. And for the past two years, this man has made himself remarkably wealthy while making us poor, and he’s doing it gleefully.’ The remarks reflect Moore’s frustration with Trump’s approach to economic management and its impact on the American public.

Highlighting Maryland’s Success

Moore also took the opportunity to showcase Maryland’s accomplishments under his leadership. He pointed to the state’s ‘fastest drops in violent crime anywhere in the United States of America,’ noting a decline of nearly 60% in violent crime rates. Additionally, he highlighted Maryland’s ‘job growth that is now almost double the national average unemployment rate that’s lower than the national average,’ despite being a state that has faced significant federal job cuts.

Moore stressed that the American people are looking for tangible results from their leaders. ‘I think people are also hoping, like, what is the answer? What are the things you’re actually hoping to get done when you come into power?’ he asked. ‘I know, like, for example, in Maryland, that we’ve been able to really focus on trying to get results for people.’

Call for Leadership and Results

Moore’s comments underscore a broader political narrative about the importance of effective governance and economic stability. He argued that voters are seeking leaders who can deliver real outcomes, whether through crime reduction, economic growth, or improved public services. His emphasis on results aligns with his campaign’s focus on practical, measurable progress for Maryland residents.
