LeBron James made a strong debut in his first game with the Philadelphia 76ers during an exhibition match against the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday. The 41-year-old forward, entering his 24th NBA season, contributed 10 points, five assists, and four rebounds in the first half, helping the 76ers take a 58-56 lead.
Adjusting to a New Team
James, who joined the 76ers this summer, acknowledged the challenge of adapting to a new locker room and routine. ‘Obviously, I have my routine, but when you go through an offseason, you’ve got to remember what your routine was again,’ he said. ‘It’s a lot of adjustment for me, but every day we’ll get better and better.’
Despite the early challenges, James was able to find his rhythm on the court, even if he didn’t take many shots in the first half. He was fouled four times and made all eight free throws, showing his ability to contribute in other ways. ‘The game is the game, and the game is needed to be played on the floor,’ James said.
Team Chemistry and Performance
The 76ers had a chance to test their new lineup, which included James and fellow All-Star Jaylen Brown. The team’s potent mix of talent was on display as they made several sharp plays. James, known for his passing ability, was praised by coach Brett Brown for his playmaking skills. ‘He’s a great, great passer, and that was certainly on display tonight,’ Brown said.
The 76ers also had a strong showing from their other starters, with Maxey scoring 14 points and the rest of the team contributing at least six each. The team’s chemistry was evident as they made several key plays, including a sequence where James found open men and set up Embiid for a dunk.
Looking Ahead
The 76ers have two more preseason games remaining, both against the Boston Celtics, and will open their regular season on October 20 in New York. The team will be looking to build on their strong exhibition performance and continue improving as the season progresses.
