Former U.S. Navy SEAL Rob O’Neill, known for publicly claiming to have fired the shots that killed Osama Bin Laden during the 2011 Abbottabad raid, recently made a heartwarming appearance in a video to ease Sydney’s childhood fear. The video, shared on Cameo, a platform where fans and businesses can pay celebrities for personalized video messages, was a surprise gift from Sydney’s friends.

According to the video, Sydney had an irrational fear that Bin Laden would enter her bedroom. Her friends, including Lindsay, Kaylee, and Ashley, decided to help her overcome this fear by enlisting O’Neill’s help. Before showing the video, they told Sydney, “We have a gift for you.” The video began with O’Neill addressing Sydney directly, saying, “Hey Sydney, what is up? This is Robert J. O’Neill, former U.S. Navy SEAL, SEAL Team 6 operator.”

O’Neill explained, “I heard from Lindsay and Kaylee and Ashley that your biggest childhood fear was Osama bin Laden coming into your bedroom. So I’m gonna let you know, I’m not sure how much of a history buff you are, but a few years ago in May of 2011, my friends and I went into his bedroom and got him.” He then joked, “So I might get into psychiatry because I think I helped you with childhood trauma. That’s pretty dope if you think about it. But what I got out of it, though, is my new motto. You should use it too.”

A stunned Sydney concluded, “I feel like I’m gonna throw up.”

O’Neill, who served roughly 16 years on SEAL Teams 2, 4, and 6 (DEVGRU), reached the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. He participated in more than 400 combat missions and is highly decorated, with awards including two Silver Stars and multiple Bronze Stars with Valor. His video, a mix of humor and sincerity, highlights the unique way public figures can connect with fans in unexpected ways.
