Basketball legend Charles Barkley has criticized the Democratic Party for promoting what he calls ‘some of the stupidest shit’ he’s ever heard, particularly regarding crime and immigration policies. In an interview with Chris Cuomo, Barkley described himself as a political independent who has mostly voted for Democrats throughout his life.

Barkley’s Criticism of Extremist Views

Barkley expressed frustration with the party’s stance on law enforcement, immigration, and social policies. ‘You think I’m going to get on TV and kill my credibility saying every Democrat – like, some of these people out here talking about no ICE, no prison, using words like socialism,’ he said.

‘No, I don’t believe in that. Wait, no cops? I think that’s some of the stupidest shit I’ve ever heard. What are we going to do without cops? What are we going to do without prisons?’ Barkley continued, emphasizing his disbelief at the proposed policies.

He reiterated that the ideas he described were among the worst he had ever heard, adding, ‘I’ve seen some of these politicians, and I’m like, “this is the stupidest shit ever.” And all of them have been Democrats. I think that’s some of the stupidest shit I’ve ever heard.’

Barkley’s Support for ICE and Voter ID

Despite his criticism, Barkley did not entirely dismiss the role of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He called for the agency to ‘do a much better job’ by focusing on criminals while praising immigrants as hard-working individuals.

‘We need immigrants in this country. They’re some of the most amazing, hard-working people in the world. Now, we need to get rid of the crooked immigrants. You need to have ID when you go vote,’ he concluded, advocating for voter ID laws as a means of ensuring election integrity.

Barkley’s comments reflect a broader debate over immigration policy and law enforcement in the United States, with many critics arguing that the current system is too lenient and fails to address crime effectively.
