College Republicans’ populist faction has made a stunning break with President Donald Trump over the recent midterm losses and the administration’s broken promises. The College Republican Patriot Coalition (CRPC), a group of college Republican organizations aligned with the America First movement, has publicly blamed the Trump administration and the Republican Party for the GOP’s historic losses.

CRPC Blames Trump for Midterm Defeat

The CRPC issued a statement that “unequivocally” laid the blame for the GOP’s losses at the feet of the Trump administration and the Republican Party. The group said the outcome was “no accident,” but a predictable result of an administration that campaigned on America First but governed as though it would wait forever.

“This lame duck Republican government failed to do what it promised, and manipulated and insulted its base for sounding the alarms for two years,” the CRPC said in its statement. The group criticized the administration for not delivering on promises of affordability, mass deportations, reindustrialization, and an end to foreign wars.

Broken Promises and Disappointment

“Millions of us young Americans knocked on doors, made calls, and cast first-time ballots for a movement that promised affordability, mass deportations, reindustrialization, and an end to foreign wars,” the CRPC continued. “Instead, we received a war on behalf of Israel, stunted deportations, and a flailing economy. On all fronts, the Republican Party and the Trump administration in particular has betrayed us.”

Call for Reform and Focus on Affordability

The CRPC urged Trump to “purge his administration of those who have not and will not deliver on the mandate voters gave him in 2024,” immediately end the Iran War, and focus on the affordability crisis that has led to young Americans “being priced out of their own country.”

The group also singled out the “disastrous and unintelligible” Iran War as the administration’s “greatest betrayal.” “President Trump promised ‘no new wars,’ and millions of us believed him,” CRPC said. “This administration broke that promise and dragged us into another endless conflict with Iran at the urging of Israel.”

“Yesterday’s defeat was not inflicted by the left and is not the fault of the Republican base, but lies squarely at the feet of this administration’s broken promises,” the group concluded. “Americans deserve more than broken promises. We deserve a true champion that will put America first.”
