Republican nominee Ed Gallrein has won the House race in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District, defeating Democrat Melissa Claire Strange. With 98.79% of the vote counted, Gallrein secured 54.22% of the vote, compared to Strange’s 40.86%, according to the Associated Press.

Background and Election Details

Gallrein, a farmer and retired U.S. Navy SEAL, defeated former Representative Thomas Massie in the Republican primary for the district. Massie, who has represented the district since 2012, had received the endorsement of former President Donald Trump before running in the general election.

Statements from Candidates

Following his victory, Gallrein expressed gratitude for the support he received from voters. He posted on X, stating, “I am deeply humbled and honored to have been elected by the people of Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District to represent them in the U.S. House of Representatives. I am grateful for the faith, trust, and confidence they have placed in me: THANK YOU!” He also emphasized his readiness to serve, saying, “I am ready to roll up my sleeves, get to work, & serve the families, communities, and counties of Kentucky’s 4th District as a member of the 120th Congress.”

Strange acknowledged the loss in a post on X, thanking her supporters and expressing hope that Gallrein would listen to the voters. She wrote, “I want to congratulate Mr. Gallrein on his win. I hope that as our Representative he will listen to the voters and serve our District well.”

Massie’s Future Plans

Massie, who lost the primary in May, announced that he had filed with the Federal Election Commission to run for the House in 2028. He stated, “This allows me to raise funds to continue my political operations supporting my position as a current office holder and as a potential candidate for federal office. I haven’t made a final decision about which office to seek, if I run.”

The race marks a significant shift in the district, which has seen political realignment in recent years. With Gallrein’s win, the 4th Congressional District will now be represented by a new voice in Congress.
