Racial Insults During Hearing
During an April 2026 hearing in Dallas, Judge Ada Brown, a Trump appointee, directed abusive racial comments toward Young. Court transcripts obtained by Bloomberg Law revealed that Brown referred to Young as a ‘white man’ despite him being Latino. She also made remarks about ‘Black excellence’ and ‘White mediocrity,’ according to the documents.
Young responded by clarifying that he is Latino, not white, and that he is ‘fair-skinned.’ Brown then accused him of having ‘White privilege,’ suggesting he was the ‘White savior’ coming to help Black lawyers in Texas. The judge also called Young ‘White-presenting,’ despite his Latino heritage.
Young filed a formal complaint against Brown following the incident, which was part of a broader investigation into her conduct. The judge was ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation after Young claimed she may be suffering from a mental health condition.
Brown responded to the complaint in a 76-page document, defending her actions and accusing Young of mistreating Black attorneys. She also took judicial notice of her own background in making findings against Young, which has raised further questions about the impartiality of her rulings.
