During a recent segment on CNN’s “The Arena,” Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) reiterated his stance that President Donald Trump continues to commit impeachable offenses on a weekly basis. The remarks came as part of a broader discussion about potential Democratic actions regarding Trump’s presidency.
Anchor Kasie Hunt brought up a conversation with another panelist, Rep. Adam Smith, who suggested that Democrats should consider impeachment if they regain control of the House. Garcia responded by emphasizing the need to prioritize stopping Trump’s agenda rather than focusing on impeachment.
“We have impeached Donald Trump two times,” Garcia said. “He has not been convicted in the Senate. We know that Donald Trump commits impeachable offenses basically every single week. What we need to focus on right now is slowing and stopping the Trump agenda. That has to be our priority,” he added.
Garcia highlighted the importance of addressing pressing public concerns such as the cost of groceries, gas, and rent, calling for immediate action upon taking control of the House. “We’ve got to get it going on day one and take on corruption. That is and should be our priority and where our time should be,” he said.
The representative also mentioned that his leadership aligns with this approach, indicating a unified strategy within the Democratic Party. “As far as I’m concerned, what I’ve heard from our leader, he believes in the same thing,” Garcia concluded.
Garcia’s comments reflect a growing concern within the Democratic Party about Trump’s ongoing actions and the potential for further legal challenges. However, the focus remains on legislative action and public welfare over impeachment, as the party seeks to address the immediate needs of American citizens.
