Lindsay Clancy’s mistrial has sparked a legal firestorm as the attorney representing the lone holdout juror, Michael Péguy Desronvil, accused defense lawyer Kevin Reddington of unconstitutional conduct and announced plans to file a bar complaint against him.

Holdout Juror Faces Legal Reprisal

Edward Paltzik, Desronvil’s attorney, criticized Reddington for accusing the holdout juror of breaking the law and setting a dangerous precedent. Paltzik argued that Reddington’s actions risk undermining the Sixth Amendment by intimidating jurors who disagree with the defense.

“If the new normal is that jurors are going to face brutal reprisals for disagreeing with a defense attorney, you can kiss the Sixth Amendment goodbye,” Paltzik wrote on X.

Defense Lawyer Seeks Extensive Juror Investigation

Reddington has requested access to Desronvil’s phone records, surveillance footage, and other personal information, which Paltzik described as highly unusual. Paltzik said Reddington’s actions go beyond ordinary post-trial scrutiny and could send a chilling message to future jurors.

“Kevin Reddington wanted this for his legacy,” Paltzik added, highlighting the attorney’s desperation to win the case.

Legal Criticism and Potential Bar Complaint

Legal analysts, including Jonathan Turley, have also condemned Reddington’s actions, calling them extreme and potentially damaging to the jury system. Paltzik confirmed that Desronvil and his team plan to file a complaint against Reddington, arguing he should be suspended or disbarred for targeting the juror.

Clancy’s Criminal Case and Legal Defense

Clancy, who admitted to killing her three children in January 2023, pleaded not guilty and claimed she was suffering from postpartum psychosis. Her defense team has been under intense scrutiny as the trial unfolded, with Reddington’s aggressive tactics drawing widespread criticism from legal experts.
