During a heated debate in the Georgia U.S. Senate race, Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) pressed Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) to disavow Reid Hoffman, a prominent Democrat megadonor and LinkedIn co-founder with ties to Jeffrey Epstein. Collins accused Ossoff of hypocrisy, pointing out that Hoffman, who has donated to Ossoff’s campaign, was associated with Epstein’s private island and his Manhattan townhouse.

Collins Challenges Ossoff on Donor Ties

Collins questioned Ossoff during the debate, emphasizing that Hoffman had visited Epstein’s island and sent him ice cream for “the girls.” He accused Ossoff of being part of the “Epstein class” despite claiming to fight against it. Collins also asked if Ossoff would return the campaign donations he received from Hoffman, who contributed the maximum legal amount of $7,000 and also donated $1 million to Ossoff’s political action committee, New Engagement PAC.

Hoffman Acknowledges Epstein Connections

Hoffman, while not facing legal accusations, admitted to visiting Epstein’s island during an MIT fundraising trip. He expressed regret for his association with Epstein, stating that it delayed justice for his victims. Hoffman apologized for his personal misjudgment and acknowledged that his actions helped maintain Epstein’s reputation.

Ossoff Defends His Position

In response, Ossoff accused Collins of voting to keep Epstein-related records secret, claiming that Collins supported covering up evidence despite knowing about the abuse of underage girls. Ossoff suggested that Collins was influenced by former President Donald Trump, who was named in the Epstein files. However, Collins denied voting to cover up the evidence, noting that a bill to release the files passed with Trump’s approval.

High-Stakes Senate Race

The Georgia Senate race is expected to be one of the most competitive in the country, potentially determining the majority in the Senate during the second half of Trump’s second term. Recent polls show Ossoff leading by a narrow margin, though the race remains close. Ossoff, who has been labeled the “most vulnerable” Democrat, has also hinted at future presidential ambitions, though he denied such plans during the debate.
