Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) has warned that if Democrats regain control of the U.S. House, they will redirect investigative efforts from birth tourism agencies to focus on immigration enforcement. In a post on X, Gill expressed concern that Democratic leadership would prioritize investigations into individuals removing illegal aliens from the country rather than continuing probes into birth tourism companies.

Birth Tourism Investigations Under Scrutiny

Gill’s comments come as part of an ongoing House Oversight Committee investigation into birth tourism agencies, which he has led through his Task Force on Defending Constitutional Rights and Exposing Institutional Abuses. The task force has sent letters to multiple agencies in Florida, Texas, and California, requesting detailed information on their childbirth packages.

Among the agencies targeted are Have My Baby in Miami, Florida; Maternity Services of El Paso, Texas-based International Maternity Services; Doctores Para Ti in El Paso, Texas; and Dr. Athiya Javid’s OB/GYN clinic in San Diego, California. Gill is seeking documents that detail how foreign clients are coached about securing temporary visas without explicitly stating their intent to give birth in the U.S.

Legal Concerns and Misrepresentation

In a letter to Have My Baby in Miami, Gill acknowledged that while it is not inherently illegal for a foreign traveler to give birth in the U.S., misrepresenting their intentions for entering the country on a visitor visa constitutes visa fraud. He emphasized that such practices undermine America’s sovereignty and require further scrutiny.

Gill’s warning comes after he appeared on The Will Cain Show, where he criticized Democrats for impulsively supporting illegal aliens regardless of the facts. His remarks reflect a broader concern about the potential shift in focus if Democrats regain control of the House.

Political Tensions and Immigration Focus

The debate over birth tourism and immigration enforcement has intensified in recent months, with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle calling for increased scrutiny of the practice. Gill’s comments underscore the political tensions surrounding the issue, as some argue that birth tourism exploits legal loopholes, while others view it as a personal choice.

As the midterm elections approach, the issue of immigration remains a key battleground. With the House in play, the direction of investigative efforts could significantly impact the political landscape.
