RFK Jr. Demands Responses From Medical Groups on Transgender Care
HHS Secretary RFK Jr. warns medical groups to address evidence of harm from gender-affirming care for minors.

WASHINGTON — HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has issued a final warning to major medical groups, demanding they respond to claims that gender-affirming care for minors poses significant risks. Letters obtained exclusively by The Daily Wire reveal that Kennedy has called for updated guidance from organizations such as the American Medical Association and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health.
Groups Ignored Initial Requests
Kennedy’s December letters sought responses regarding the promotion of transgender medical procedures for minors, but most groups ignored the requests. This week, he followed up with those who had not responded, expressing disappointment at their silence.
“The silence is telling — and deeply disappointing,” Kennedy wrote, noting that the organizations have 10 business days to provide a clear statement on their stance regarding gender-affirming care for children. He emphasized the need for revisions to their guidance in light of evidence from HHS that such procedures may harm minors.
Report Highlights Evidence of Harm
Kennedy cited an HHS report, “Treatment for Pediatric Gender Dysphoria: Review of Evidence and Best Practices,” which documented substantial evidence of harm from sex-rejecting procedures. The report has been a key part of his efforts to end Medicaid and CHIP funding for these procedures on minors.
“One would expect that an organization holding itself out as a steward of national medical standards… might have something to say when the evidence calls its guidance into question,” Kennedy wrote, highlighting the need for these groups to defend their positions.
Call for Transparency and Accountability
Kennedy argued that the groups’ refusal to engage is difficult to square with their claimed commitment to children’s health. He pointed to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons as an example, noting they updated their position after finding insufficient evidence to support the benefits of these procedures for minors.
“Continued silence will speak for itself as a choice to place commitments to radical ideology ahead of evidence-based medicine and the children the organizations claim to protect,” Kennedy warned, signaling potential next steps if no changes are made to the groups’ policies.
