President Donald Trump announced a $250 million investment to hire at least 5,000 new nurses in elder care facilities across the U.S. during a campaign stop in Fort Myers, Florida. The initiative, part of his broader midterm campaign, targets improving healthcare infrastructure, particularly in the Sunshine State.

“I’m pleased to announce that the Trump administration is investing $250 million to hire at least 5,000 new nurses in elder care facilities all across America,” Trump stated. The plan emphasizes bolstering nursing and assisted living homes, with a focus on Florida, where the administration claims it has already put “real money back in the pockets” of seniors through the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) Act.

The announcement follows a separate $8 billion financial aid package for American farmers, which Trump unveiled earlier this week during a rally in Kansas. The package aims to offset high diesel prices and support rural communities. The White House highlighted that over 4.8 million seniors in Florida benefit from the no-tax-on-Social Security provision of the OBBB Act, with the average senior expected to pay zero federal taxes on Social Security benefits.

Trump also used the opportunity to campaign for U.S. Senator Ashley Moody (R-Fla.), urging the state to reject a “Marxist maniac” like Florida State Representative Angie Nixon. “Nixon is a card-carrying member of the Dumocrat Socialists of America,” Trump said, citing the group’s platform that calls for abolishing the U.S. Senate, the Supreme Court, and defunding the police.

“Why can’t I have a candidate like that to run against?” Trump remarked, suggesting such a candidate would be easily defeated. He added that an audience member responded, “You did!”

Trump also endorsed Representative Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) for the governorship, criticizing his Democrat opponent, former U.S. Representative David Jolly. “David Jolly is a vicious anti-gun radical, who wants to take away your firearms,” Trump said, noting that Donalds was a strong supporter of the Second Amendment.

“President Trump and Republicans are delivering lower taxes, major private investment, stronger rural healthcare, critical infrastructure, expanded veteran support, and safer communities,” the White House stated. “Floridians face a clear choice: continue this progress or return to higher taxes, open borders, and the failed policies of the past.”
