Trump Suggests Replacing Press Room With FDR Pool Amid Media Tensions
President Trump proposes restoring Franklin D. Roosevelt’s pool amid ongoing media disputes and press access issues.

President Donald Trump has suggested replacing the current White House Press Briefing Room with the historic Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) swimming pool, a move that has sparked further controversy amid ongoing tensions with the media. The FDR pool, originally built in 1933, was converted into the press room under President Nixon in 1970.
Media Tensions and Press Access Disputes
Trump’s recent proposal comes as he continues to clash with the White House Correspondents’ Association and left-leaning media outlets. Earlier this month, he had removed CNN, MS Now, and Politico from White House access, citing their biased reporting. However, a judge later ruled that the ban was likely unconstitutional, and the outlets were reinstated last week.
Despite the reinstatement, the leftist press pool chose to boycott the President, which ultimately backfired when conservative media outlets gained access to the press pool. Real America’s Voice, Lindell TV, and The Gateway Pundit took over the press duties for Trump’s trip to New York and later covered his visit with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Conservative Media Gains Access
On Saturday, Real America’s Voice was assigned to cover Trump’s trip to Tennessee, while CNN was excluded, leading to continued outrage from left-wing media. CNN claimed there was no outlet to replace them, resulting in limited coverage of the trip. However, Real America’s Voice provided pool coverage with audio and video available to any outlet that chose to cover Trump.
MS Now has also criticized conservative media, labeling it as “state media” and suggesting the White House provides direct subsidies through free airfare on Air Force One. This claim was made by a former Politico reporter, who was present when Politico received $8 million in federal funding under the Biden administration.
Trump’s latest move to replace the press room with the FDR pool is seen as another attempt to provoke the media and assert control over the narrative. He posted a side-by-side graphic on Truth Social, labeling the current press room as “Fake News” and the FDR pool as the “After” version.
