As the Alaska Senate race remains tightly contested with no clear victor, President Donald Trump has called for votes for the ‘Fake Dan Sullivan‘ and GOP candidate Gerald Heikes to be given to the ‘REAL Dan Sullivan.’ The president made the claim on Truth Social, emphasizing that the election should be decided in favor of the incumbent senator.

Confusion Over Ballot Entries

Trump has accused Democrats of intentionally adding a second candidate with the same name as the incumbent senator, Daniel J. Sullivan Jr., to the ballot in an effort to confuse voters and siphon off support. This has sparked national controversy, with the president arguing that the vote totals for the ‘Fake Dan Sullivan’ and the other ‘slug’ on the ballot should be immediately transferred to the ‘REAL Dan Sullivan.’

According to the Associated Press, with 74.44% of the vote counted as of Wednesday, Democrat Mary Peltola leads the incumbent senator Dan S. Sullivan by just 637 votes. Gerald Heikes (R-Alaska) has received 4,846 votes, while Daniel J. Sullivan Jr. has received 3,600 votes. The AP also noted that if no candidate secures a majority, the race will proceed to ranked-choice voting.

Supporting Claims and Allegations

Trump’s claims were further supported by a report from The New York Times, which alleged that campaign staffers for Senate Democrat candidate Mary Peltola and allied operatives had worked to recruit candidates with the same name as the incumbent senator. The report also mentioned that Heikes claimed he had been recruited into the race ‘by a guy from the Midwest.’

The controversy highlights the complexities of election integrity and voter confusion, as the race remains one of the most closely watched in the nation. With the outcome still uncertain, the situation continues to draw national attention and political scrutiny.
