During a Republican midterm rally in Lakeland, Florida, Vice President JD Vance faced a leftist protester who disrupted his speech. The incident unfolded as Vance addressed a crowd of supporters, including Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds and Senator candidate Ashley Moody.
In the middle of his speech, a heckler began shouting, prompting Vance to pause and address the crowd. ‘We got a clown over here, ladies and gentlemen,’ he said, before calling out the protester. As police officers and event security attempted to remove the trespasser, the crowd erupted into chants of ‘USA.’
Vance took the opportunity to mock the protester, acknowledging the use of a selfie stick. ‘You know, you always, you always have to laugh at these protesters because that guy, you know, he pretends like he just broke out into an emotional protest, but he made sure to bring his cell phone at the end of a pole,’ he said.
He continued, labeling the protester a ‘Democrat plant’ who sought to raise taxes and release illegal aliens. ‘That guy is a Democrat plant who wants to raise your taxes and release illegal aliens on the streets of Florida. Well, we kicked him out just like we’re going to kick out the rest of the Democrats who want to do the exact same thing,’ Vance added.
As the protester resisted, a police officer intervened, grabbing him and sweeping his legs out from under him, ultimately throwing him to the ground. Cuffs were then applied as he was removed from the event. The incident highlighted the tension between political figures and protesters during high-profile rallies, with the crowd’s support for Vance evident through their ‘USA’ chants.
