On Election Day, voters from Washington State to Nebraska showed strong support for measures aimed at ensuring fairness in girls’ sports. These initiatives, which seek to exclude biological males from female sports teams, passed decisively in several states, signaling a growing public sentiment in favor of preserving the integrity of women’s athletics.

Measures Pass Across Multiple States

Measures to keep biological males out of girls’ sports achieved significant victories in Washington State, Nebraska, Nevada, and Arizona. A similar ban on boys who identify as girls is also expected to pass in Colorado. These initiatives reflect a broader push to protect the fairness and safety of female athletes.

In Nebraska, Measure 442 passed with an overwhelming 68% of the vote, designating teams by sex: male, female, and mixed. The measure also added language to the state constitution to exclude trans athletes from girls’ sports, reinforcing the focus on gender-based participation.

Washington State and Colorado Measures Lead the Charge

In Washington State, Initiative 638 held a convincing lead with 60% of the vote counted, and it was one of the more animating issues encouraging voter turnout. The measure forbids biological males from participating in girls’ sports and requires that a player’s sex be verified at the yearly sports physical.

Meanwhile, in Colorado, Prop 134 was too close to call at last check, but it was leading with 52% of the vote and over 2 million votes counted. Despite the tight race, supporters argue that Title IX clearly supports female athletes, making the issue a non-negotiable for many voters.

Public Support for Fairness in Sports

Frances Staudt, a key advocate for the issue in Washington State, celebrated the victory with a public statement, emphasizing the importance of fairness in girls’ sports. “We did it!” she said, highlighting the collective effort of Washington voters who have had enough of what she described as the “woke blue wall.”

In Arizona, supporters of female K-12 athletes won a decisive 58% of the vote despite intense opposition from trans groups. This outcome reflects a growing public consensus that the interests of female athletes should take precedence in school sports.

With 27 other states already banning boys from girls’ teams, this Election Day marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing debate over gender and sports. The movement has now broken through what some describe as the “woke blue wall,” signaling a shift in public opinion and political priorities.
