A documentary about disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, who was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for wire fraud and conspiracy, has received an R rating due to its inclusion of graphic nudity. The film, titled You Can See Everything, is set for a theatrical release on October 16 and has already premiered at the Telluride Film Festival.

Documentary Details and Content

The full-length trailer, released by distributor A24, offers a glimpse into filmmaker Nathan Fielder’s portrayal of Holmes. The nearly three-hour film begins 34 days before Holmes started her prison sentence in May 2023. Fielder interviews Holmes as she reflects on her actions, asking, “You really feel you did nothing wrong?” Holmes responds, “I did not,” showcasing her lack of remorse for the fraud that cost investors over $140 million.

The documentary includes scenes of Fielder staying in Holmes’ San Diego-area home with her husband, hotel heir Billy Evans, and their two children. One scene shows Holmes admitting it took her a long time to be comfortable with letting someone see her cry, followed by a single tear running down her cheek. The film’s graphic nudity and candid portrayal of Holmes’ personal life and legal consequences have led to its R rating.

Directors and Release Information

You Can See Everything is co-directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim. The film’s release is set for October 16, following its premiere at the Telluride Film Festival. The documentary provides a unique, unfiltered look at Holmes’ life and the aftermath of her legal troubles, raising questions about accountability, fraud, and personal redemption.
